Smith & Mahal-Hill Family Chai for Charity: Assembly | Nov 6th

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

Meet Chai for Charity

Chai's mission is to inspire people to give in creative ways. Our belief is that everyone has something to give, regardless of where they are in life (20yo-me had no money, but lots of time; 40yo-me has no time, but some money). We work with hosts (like the Smith and Mahal-Hill families, below) to gather their community to learn about, and invest in, local causes that matter to them. This event aims to model giving to donors of all generations by helping them invest goods and time. - Natasha, Founder of Chai for Charity

Meet your hosts: The Mahal-Hill Family

Forest and Michele moved to Colorado 13 years ago. Originating from separate coasts, Colorado is a place we are proud to call home and fortunate to raise our two children in! The Mahal - Hill Family looks forward to helping strengthen our community by supporting families experiencing food insecurity. We are grateful the Chai for Charity organization that is enabling us to find ways to contribute to those in need locally. Join us by RSVPing below!

Meet your hosts: The Smith Family

Katy and Aaron Smith are the parents of two active kids (Boden, 8 & Faye, 5) who live in Lafayette. When not transporting the kids to soccer or dance, you can find the Smiths cruising the Coal Creek Trail. The Smiths are excited to share the experience of volunteering with their kids, family and friends. They feel a strong connection to the Lafayette community, and jumped at the idea of sharing their time and talents in support of Sister Carmen. Sister Carmen has supported East Boulder for over 40 years, and the Smiths are looking forward to assembling snack bags for local students who need them. Join us by RSVPing below!

Meet our nonprofits

Join us to assemble 1,000 snack bags for kids who experience food insecurity in our community. The bags will be donated to a Lafayette-based nonprofit: Sister Carmen whose mission is to provide assistance to residents of Lafayette, Louisville, Superior, and Erie, who are in need, without discrimination. They are a non-religious Family Resource Center, which offers critical resources to thousands of individuals and families each year who are in need of emergency supportive services such as food, clothing, utilities, housing assistance, parenting education, and more. They will get our snack bags to kids in the community who need them!

Your task

Join us in-person in Lafayette, CO (address provided later) to assemble snack bags for school-aged kids, many of whom may be on free or reduced lunches at school. Offering these nutritious, shelf-stable snack bags ensures that kids don’t go hungry at school and have the energy to do the important work of playing, learning and chasing each other around the playground. We will setup an assembly line to fill sandwich bags with all of the items and our goal is to assemble 1,000 kits. See photos from a Chai: Assembly to get an idea of what to expect.
